WE ARE NURTURING THE CHILDREN
We are a non-profit, non-governmental organisation that specialises in providing care and support to orphans and abandoned or abused children of Somerset East. The Siyakhulisa Trust was established in February 2008 in an attempt to raise funds to address the problems faced by the children of this beautiful town. We truly believe that we can and will make a difference. Since 2011 we have changed our focus from providing homes for needy children to providing better education opportunities. Our funds are now predominantly used to award scholarships to deserving students so they can attend schools that will enable them to achieve their goals and become an asset to their communities and the country as a whole. We also assist tertiary students by filling the gaps so that they are able to complete their studies.
The way we see it, the learners of today are the LEADERS of tomorrow. So in effect we grow a future, one person at a time.
Furthermore the Foundation prides itself in being a no-admin-fees charity with all volunteers working for free so that all funds collected go towards the social upliftment of our children. Our books are audited annually and copies of our financial statements are available on request.

In the Eastern Cape province of South Africa, about 180 km north of Port Elizabeth, and nestled below the wooded slopes of the Boschberg Mountains, you will find the quaint little town of Somerset East. Noted for its beauty and no less than 16 waterfalls it sounds like the perfect place for young families to raise their children. Unfortunately all is not well in Somerset East. It is no secret that it is also home to hundreds of AIDS orphans and abused and abandoned children.
